why does safari suck lately?

MBP 2.33ghz 2 Gb RAM 160GB 17" Glossy...
it keeps crashing... I have switched to firefox to quell the repeated disasters.

opinions.. oh and obviously safari doesn't suck but, i needed a phrase to catch people :)

Try deleting the preference file from your user Library.

I'm not having an issue with it. Maybe you just need to do a software update?

Your plist file might be corrupt. Another thing you could try is to create a new user account and see if you have Safari problems with it -- if you don't have the same problems with the new user account, it is probably the plist file in your current account.

I had the same issue on my macbook and my powerbook g4 so I also switched to firefox on both machines, and both of my machines was up to date.

Sorry... I should have elaborated...

The preference file could be corrupt. Deleting it will force the system to rebuild a fresh one. Go to your home folder, then to Library > Preferences.

Scroll through the list... the correct one should be named com.apple.safari.plist. Delete that and see if it helps. If not, we can try something else.
