Ipod Library

Once I have imported music into itunes and consolidated to the library can i remove the original music files to an external drive and itunes will then play from the library? running out of room so need to clear some space.

I don't think so, I may be corrected on this but itunes has to know where your files are so if you move it then it will loose it. Just load your music to the external then load your music from the external to the itunes and then you shouldn't have any problems as long as the external is plugged into the computer.
