OS X will not boot...

Your Mac's Specs
Ibook G4 1 GHz | 768
I have Panther running on a G4 iBook. When I start it up it usually boots but this time it says this:

INIT: Single User Shell Terminated; Restarting

However it never restarts. I have tried resetting a password and first aid using the Panther install disk.

Any ideas how to get it up and running? I don't want to lose my data...
