So my Iomega 500GB HD has been working fine and then recently I plugged it in with the firewire 800 and an error message popped up saying "disk not readable". I tried with the USB and the Firewire and did all the restarting of everything but it didn't help.
When the error window appears and I click initialize and go to the Imoega HD and try to verify or repair I get this:
"Checking HFS Plus Volume.
Catalog file entry not found for extent
Volume check failed.
Error: The underlying task reported failure of exit.
1HFS volume checked
1 Volume could not be repaired because of an error"
The Permissions buttons are grayed out.
I am using a Mac Book Pro with the most recent Tiger.
This thing is TOTALLY filled with things that took me a long time to get in order and I didn't feel the need to back up my back up, so I would love to get this sorted out without erasing or reformatting or any of that, but I guess if I have to just pay to get my files back then that's what I have to do, but I would love another option.
HELP!
