Ok guys, I'm new to the site, and I'm new to macs. So please have mercy.

(For the record I have searched for days, and can't get help on this issue)

I'm am try to share files from my windows XP desktop computer, to my macbook pro os 10.4, through a linksys wireless network. My notebook is currently connected to the network, meaning I can access the Internet. I try to activate the file sharing on my mac, and it asks me for a password. I have no idea what the password is. What is this "password?" Its not the common password that is set for security reasons on the mac.

I don't understand why it's asking me for a password when I'm already on the network!?? Its not this hard to share between pc's.

It says "Enter Your username and password to access file server________"

My name is in the username section and the password section is blank.
My computer password doesn't work, and i've tried leaving it blank.

There is no password for the pc, when the logon screen comes on you just press enter and the comp starts up.
