Is this possible?

My friend has a macbook pro running leopard and I have a MBP running Tiger. I want to be able to drop a few demo songs I have in his drop box.

If I know his IP address can I connect to his laptop wherever he is, as long as he is connected to the internet, and access his digital drop box?

You will need his IP and user name and password, unless he sets you up on his mac with a user and password so that you can login as you

if file transfer is all you need , then he could also enable FTP, but by default this opens up too much access

What you need is Pure FTP, which lets you manage FTP users and restrict them to certain folders, he could then give you an FTP username and password and give you a specific folder to upload to

PureFTPd Manager for Mac OS X
