Word 08 tab/indent problem

Has anyone else had a problem with with indenting and bullets? I may have altered the autocomplete or something, but now when i start a bullet, say with "-", and then hit enter and it creates a second dash, and i hit tab, it doesn't create a different bullet underneath. Instead it just indents the words but leaves the bullet there, leaving a really awkward looking document. Worst of all, I can't even fix it manually.

Any idea how to fix this?

well naturally now just found the solution: go to Preferences > AutoCorrect > check box "tabs and backspace set left indent" at the bottom

no idea what that means but it's fixed now...
