help for openoffice for mac

hello,
openoffice 2.4 stopped working, I cannot open or write documents. I tried installing it again, but it still does not work. If I click on X11, the desktop turns grey, I have to restart the computer. I installed openoffice 2.2, but it works funny, documents close after a few seconds.
Can somebody help me?

Some of us have had problems with Open Office. I solved the problem by removing it and installing NeoOffice. It is Open Office but easier to install and run. NeoOffice Home
