I am in the process of purchasing an iMac, switching from a PC. I'm an avid photographer and use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop 7.0. I'm trying to decide between the 2.66 and 2.88 processors. Either way, I will be going to 4 GB of RAM. Is there really that much difference between the 2 processors that would justify the extra cost?

Thanks for all replies.

In my opinion, no - 220MHz is really not much of a difference in normal usage.

In everyday use, you won't notice any difference even between the 1.8Ghz Core 2 Duo and the 3Ghz version.

For number crunching, such as video encoding, you might knock off 15mins in an hour with the 3Ghz vs the 1.8.

You might knock 4 minutes with the 2.8 vs the 2.6.

I'd put the money towards buying Photoshop CS3 or CS4, since you'll have to ditch the PC version.

I agree with the above. The 2.6 will seriously fly with what you want it to do.
