Aloha from Hawaii

I just bought a Novatel Merlin XU870 ExpressCard to use in my MacBook Pro. I'm trying to use my iPhone SIM card in it to connect to the AT&T data network. I have tried all the combinations of APN, username and password that I can find on the Internet, to no avail.

For example:

APN: ISP.CINGULAR
Account name: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1

The best results I get are:

Fri Oct 3 18:33:17 2008 : Initializing phone: ATE0V1&F&D2&C1&C2S0=0
Fri Oct 3 18:33:17 2008 : Initializing PDP context: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","isp.cingular"

Fri Oct 3 18:33:20 2008 : Using interface ppp0
Fri Oct 3 18:33:20 2008 : Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/cu.wwan
Fri Oct 3 18:33:21 2008 : CHAP authentication succeeded
Fri Oct 3 18:33:51 2008 : IPCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Fri Oct 3 18:33:51 2008 : IPV6CP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Fri Oct 3 18:33:57 2008 : Connection terminated.
Fri Oct 3 18:34:07 2008 : Serial link disconnected.

Anyone know how to get this working right?

Red light blinking?

marcosscriven, is the light blinking red on the device? That's what mine does. The manual indicates that means SIM error or unrecognized SIM. My SIM is perfectly fine. When I place it in another Merlin XU870 (from Novatel, not from a carrier), it works great right out of the box. It's only with this one that came from the "3" network in Australia that it is not working. Unfortunately, the person on eBay who sold it to me denies that it is locked. I suspect it is locked to only allow "3" SIM cards.
