when you say gave the computer a name, do you mean you named the hd? or do you mean the admin user/home folders name? they can both be changed, lemme know which it is and Ill explain it.

I suppose he means the name that is displayed above the users in the startup window.

You can change the "Computer Name" in the Sharing pane of the System Preferences. Hope this helps
