is this the update or bad hardware? osx crashes

as soon as i rebooted from the 10.5.5 update

the screen flickered with anomalies like this

i thought nothing of it well it just happened again 3 times in a row

one time it went into a kernel panic and as i rebooted while filling out the kernel panic report it did it again

this time it wouldn't boot it just gave beeps not sure how many its either 2 or 3

so what's the diagnosis guys?

Three beeps defective memory or defective memory slots.

Try reseating the modules very firmly.

If no joy remove one pair of whatever memory you have and boot again.

Next try booting from install DVD and run Repair Disk and then Apple Hardware Test, which also checks memory.

Still no luck beginning to look like a logic board, so maybe off to local Mac dealer.

its been functioning for 12 hrs now might have the ram jiggling around or something cause i tried repeating it and it worked again

Reported problems with iTunes 8 update if that was included in your downloads.

i did update to 8 but it was a a day or two before 10.5.5

well it just crashed again last night and just now it wouldn't come back on from sleep mode

decided to do hardware test and it says not supported, just did the itunes 8.0.1 update

now what?

Was AHT with the system restore CD that came with the machine?

yes it was, i heard that AHT is on the actual macbook now so im about to try it

just did it and it passed

i did a pmu reset so far its been good but its only been 4 hours

its been good but last night it crashed again, sudden graphical glitches on the left side of the screen and ten a full lock up, had to hold the power button

what to do?
