We all know that tiger will be shipping in the first half of 2005. However I have been hearing that there may be a conflict with Tiger and the ibook's graphic card. Does anyone know the deal with this? I cant picture apple coming out with 2 different versions of Tiger, one for ibook and one for the rest, that makes no sense. Anyone know anything about this?

the problem isnt with tiger and ibook, its whether or not your graphics card is high enough to support core image/video. you should still be able to run tiger, just not as well or with some sort of limitation.

Yeh, you might have to swear!, but theres not all hope lost. These supported Graphics card are for all the Core Image/Video of Tiger, Which means you might loose some of the "cool" effects when it comes to Widgets! espic that really Kool when which is the ripple effect, anyway, there hab also been speculation that the CPU might take over some of these more intetse effects and scale them down, or might make then loog laggy, the Current iBook GOU that is on the 9200 will not support these Core Image/Video effects, but Tiger will run great on the iBook and maybe when all the testing is overt, you will still be able to run these "Cool" Effects but just scaleled down

It like with the computer game 'black & white'.

It supported hardware texture & lighting, but obviously if your graphics card didn't have that specific capability, you could still play the game - you just had slightly worse performance as the cpu had to do the texture & lighting...

Tiger will still work on your iBook though.

Mac HD>Applications>Utilities>System profiler, click the drop down triangle next to hadware, under hardware, click pci/agp cards.

Hopefully there will be a way to turn off the effects. Who really needs them, anyways?

my profiler shows the following;

Type: display
Bus: AGP
VRAM (Total): 32 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x5c63
Revision ID: 0x0001
ROM Revision: 113-xxxxx-115

Where can I find the model, etc.? Is it just an ATI 0x1002? I am assuming my card is not supported for Tiger. That's a little annoying to be honest.

... Do you actually know what you're looking for/at? Why not go to the Apple Website or look at the box/literature it came with.
