I had to reboot 3 times this morning and maybe because it's quieter, but the chime seems really loud. I've tried to lower it using the main volume control. Is there anything else I'm missing ?
On my MacBook Pro, the volume of the system chime is determined by how I left the volume set the last time I was in Mac OS. So, if I had it set to medium-low, it will be medium-low the next time I start up. Is this not the case with desktops as well?
I don't want to get rid of the chime, just lower it a few notches ! iTunes volume is low, when it's maxed out (my audio in port is screwed so no speakers). I think of the chime as reassuring but at 5am I don't want to wake up the house !
