My IR sensor stopped working about 2 months ago, and I took it into the Apple store, and they said that I would have to send it in. At the time, I needed the laptop, so I put it off until now. Unfortunately, during that time, I dropped it into my backpack sleeve a little too high, and it put a dent on the bottom corner, near the DVI connector. Nothing is broken, and has nothing to do with the IR sensor. Anyway, I took it to the Apple store yesterday, and they said, again, that it would have to be sent in. However, since there is "significant physical damage", they will not send it in. I could probably pop the dent back so it looks a lot better, but can I take it apart without voiding the warranty?

The only thing you can service without voiding the warranty is the RAM and the battery. :(
