• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

okay soo, i bought a canon vixia hf10. i also bought final cut studio 2 and installed new RAM. ive pretty much done everything i could, but my computer is still not recognizing my camcorder. my imac is almost 2 years old but not quite. ive plugged it into a newer mac with ilife'08 and it worked in imovie but i want to use it final cut. any ideas? is it the firewire that is a problem? does final cut only recognize firewires? thanks

I've had the same problem, with other camera model, and my problem was solved with a new fire wire cable... It's pretty cheap so consider trying this...

Depends on the versions and camera types.

After the 3/4 mark see the 'Log and Transfer...' demonstration of the Apple 'Importing Footage' tutorial.

Is the iMac a Power PC or Intel version?

Have you got the latest upgrades to Final Cut Pro and very recent version of QuickTime?
