It would be really, really, really cool if apple made an application or something that allowed you to plug in the iphone (or wirelessly) and the computer would be allowed to get the data from the accelerometer.

For example, I have X-plane for the iphone, and I also have it for my mac, it would be really cool if you could use the iphone tilt controls to control the full version of x-plane.

Or for racing games, you can use the tilt to steer.

Is there any way to do that now?

after using something similar on the ps3 - sixaxis - trust me, it only works well with a few games where percision is less than mandatory. as a secondary control, it's not bad, but as the main method of movement, more often than not, it's rubbish.

Agreed. The more I use my new iTouch 2G, the more the novelty wears off.
