New iMac Release?

Hi, I wanna get an iMac. However, I have a bit of a dilemma. I want to get it soon and am not sure whether to wait for the new one to be released. I know it's supposedly going to be announced on the 14th of October and I have no problem waiting that long but can anyone tell me how long after a new computer is announced is it available to buy based on Apples previous history of releasing Mac products?

Way... way too many specs to list.
no one knows when new product will be released, other than apple.. and they don't historically preannounce dates. usually they're announced and available on the same day.
