Help! MacBook wont start up after tone

Hi, I have had no problems with my MacBook witch is almost a year old. But today I turn t on with full battery(green light on charger), the start up tone sounds then the grey apple screen shows and then it shuts down. What is the problem?

does it turn on with the mains power connected?

Have you got the restore disks

NO. I got it going from the install disk but after shutdown it happens again. How do I backup my entire Hard drive? before I send it in.
