HELP PLEASE! My Mac seems to have deleted my files?!!?!

HELP!!! Anyone out there who knows how I can find my files again?

Id just downloaded some fonts from dafont on to a pc (as my mac is not connected to the internet atm) and I transferred them onto a usb pen, and unzipped them onto my mac and transferred them into my font folder.. I closed all my windows on my mac and restarted it.. But when it opened again my whole desktop was cleared and none of my files seems to be anywhere.. my whole life is on this mac. Can someone please help me.. what can I do?

I have a MAC OS X 10.4.11 macbook pro and its only a few months old

First- Posting the same thread twice won't get you any more attention. Second, I don't know how to help you... call Apple, I guess.

Did you by any chance change your short name or rename your user folder?
Look in /Users and see if there is another folder there. Do a search here about this, people do that a lot.
