slow internet- but fast using backup HD

My internet is slow. but when I swith startup hard drives, that connection is fast. My friend came over with his laptop and it flew by mine. Any ideas what I can do. I wonder if I have a virus.

Copy the airport settings from the external backup hard drive to the internal and see if that helps. Something might have changed the airport settings in your internal hard drive.
