MacbookPro can't ping on Windows AD Network

AD works - I can see PCs on the Network and access them through the sidebar in the finder. But these same PCs I can't ping from the terminal.

It seems like DNS isn't working properly, right? My search domain is set to "mycompany.local", by the way. Any idea what's going on?

Confusing...
