my back light has gone. HELP anyone?!

hello !


Ah- i cannot believe it.
I just turned my ibook on and after 10 mins- just doing my emails and the screen went BLACK. i could just see the desktop but its deffo the backlight.


I dont have bundles of money to throw at apple to get it fixed.
I have read you can fix this yourself.


Has anyone done this? if so can you please please give me some info or links on how to and where to get the replacements and how to do it.


Only other option is a new screen OUCH i know thats going to be mega expensive.......anyone know how much? and where to get it fixed?


that would be a last resort but id rather try fix myself.

looks like you probably need a new inverter or bulb.

a quick google search showed me this was very difficult:

on ifixit.com i couldn't find the actual instructions for an ibook, but they listed replacing the inverter as "very difficult".

Might be cheaper to buy someone's busted iBook with a good screen and swap that screen into your machine.
