I am about to order a Mac Pro and have a question regarding the CPUs.

I can't possibly afford the 3.2GHz setup.

But can probably stretch to the 3.0GHZ, but only if it's justifiable. In real world terms is there a big enough performance increase to warrant the £500 cost of upgrading?

Its not worth the $500 difference, and day to day you will not notice the slight speed difference.

You are better off spending the money on third party ram

Yes do as louishen suggest and max memory out and the less than 10% processor speed difference will hardly be ntoicable.
