First compact to use full size sensor

Sigma recently announced the Sigma DP1 which uses the same Foveon sensor as the Sigma SD14 dSLR.

The advantage of the Foveon cmos sensor is that it captures full color (R,G, B values) at each pixel location of an image. Foveon useless a three layer approach, which is comparible to the three emulsion layers of color film.

All other sensors use a mosiac single layer approach where color information per pixel is interpolated and not actual.

So it's still a crop sensor and not a full frame.

Right, but that's NOT a full frame sensor. It's the same size they said, as the four thirds type sensor. Just because a sensor is a DSLR type, does not make it full frame. There are more non full framed SLR's than full btw. I think at this point that the most compact, consumer grade DSLR with a full frame sensor you'll find, is the Nikon D700. That's the puppy I want...
