cannot get netgear router to work

Hi,

I'm hoping that someone here can help me with this problem as I really don't know what to do.

I have jsut had virgin media installed in my new house and I can connect to the internet directly from the cable modem. However as soon as i connect my router to the cable modem and my mac to the router the internet no longer works.

So basically the router doesnt work with the ethernet cable or wirelessly. When I try wireless the computer connects to the network and it says that the mac is connected to the internet but websites still dont load.


Any help would be appreciated

What's the model of the router?

Check the modem connected to the DSL port rather than a standard LAN port on the router.
