Hi,
I recently purchased a Dell Moniter (SP2208WFP) and it claims to be able to go up to 1680x1050, but when I plugged it into my laptop, it will not go above 1280x1024. I'd like to run it on the higher resolution, but can't figure out how. My laptop is a MacBook running OSX 10.4.11. Please help!

Thanks
Anna

Anna:

Need to know which MacBook you're using. It's possible the graphics chip in your MacBook will not support resolutions higher than 1280 x 1024.

Regards.

Resolution Issue

Anna,

I had the exact same issue a couple days ago, and a computer technician at 1-800-MY-Apple told me that my macbook (10.4.11) just did not have the hardware to accommodate a monitor with 1680 x 1050, and that the only solution was to buy a newer computer. In reference to my new, nice monitor, he said it was like having a ferrari but only being allowed to drive 50mph! I am not in front of my macbook right now, but I believe I just chose the 1280 x 1024 resolution, and in addition, I went through "appearances" in system preferences and chose to NOT soften the font. This helped sharpen up the text a bit for reading documents. Good luck! :|
