Hello

I used to use a PC at work and connected to the shares on our servers via a mapped drive (win xp pro)

Recently I've gained (yey) a Mac Mini (10.5). But I'm not sure how to connect to the drives. FTP is really slow!

I have been using this for the past few months, and it works as it says, but it still takes too long to load and save files.

Can anyone recommend an alternative?

Use command + K from the Finder, or the Go>Connect to Server option.

smb://servername/sharename

This should prompt for authentication to the server. Hopefully you've been provided with the credentials. Be sure to save them in the keychain.

If properly authenticated this should bring up a list of non hidden shares. Select the share(s) you want and that's it.

Creating aliases of shares will save you all the previous steps.

yeah i've tried the go to server option. will try an alias.

but even with an alias, i'd have to double-click it to open the connection each time i want to use it right? is there any way to have it open when the machine boots up? (im lazy : )
