I have a 3rd generation Ipod and when i turn it on iit displays the Apple logo icon and then it shows a folder with an exclamation mark on it. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or have this problem?

You need to Restore you iPod.

Go to Applications -> Utilities and you should have an iPod updater in there...if not then just download it from apples website...Do a restore on it (You will lose all of your music but it will work afterwards). If it does this even after restoring you have a bad hard drive
