Trouble with firefox.

I have recently been having some trouble with Firefox and I need some help. When I was downloading or saving a file I accidentally hit the box that said "do this automatically"...so now whenever I try to download something or save it to the desktop, it simply tries to download to the one application and won't work. i can't find where to change the setting.. anyone else know?
