The g3 (beige mini tower) now has firewire, but I took out the ethernet card to install it. Should I go back to ethernet, or use the firewire?

I tried just connecting the two up with a firewire cable, but they aren't talking. Sorry, you can tell I'm new to this.

Your Mac's Specs
2015 Retina 4K iMac. Monterey. 8GB RAM. Crucial 500GB external SSD
could try firewire target disk mode... see if that works. otherwise, ethernet is likely best.

networking is new for me also.... firewire TGM don't work on some models.... like the blue and white G3

Yep, the target disk mode doesn't seem to work on the G3. Will I be able to do this on the G5 instead and save files from the G3 on it using Firewire?
