Ie If I have 2x 2gb Ram should that go in the first set of slots, rather than 2 x 256mb ?

Or does it make no difference? Cheers

which power mac do you have? if its a power mac g5, then yes, it does matter. you have to put the ram in in a specific order. (i.e. if you have 4 sticks of ram, you have to put 2 sticks in the #1 slots, and the other two sticks in the #2 slots, etc...) hope this helps.

Yep, I'm aware of that, but I have 2 x 256 2 x 512 and now 2 x 2gb.

Does it matter which pair goes first?

ah,ik understand now. i dont think it matters. best way to check is just to install the ram. if there is something wrong you'll know it right away.
