iTunes 8 won't install properly

Macbook 2.4Ghz
I downloaded the iTunes 8 update, and after updating iTunes was still 7
So I downloaded iTunes 8 directly from apple.com and installed it and still iTunes is 7

I have a macbook with leopard 10.5.4

How can this happen?

Keep at it. The new Grid view in iTunes 8 is worth its weight in GOLD. I love it!

I did restart, no change
Edit I just found the problem, the icon on the dock was linked to Application>multimedia>iTunes
But the update installed iTunes at Applications>iTunes so I had to replace the iTunes in the multimedia folder to the on in the application folder
