iTunes 8 has a cool new visualizer enabled by default. The old visualizer is still available as an option.

is iTunes 8 any good? worth the upgrade? is it pretty much the same thing except for the visualizer and the genius playlist maker?

Yes it is pretty much the same, but genius is useful, and it has a few other new things like a new way of viewing albums/artists/genres/composers.

Worth the upgrade I would say, especially as it is free!

I like it, not any gigantic changes but worth the small free upgrade. I don't think it could hurt.
