Brilliant wee laptop

although recently has started running very slow, taking time to open apps etc and sounds like the HDD is constantly running

is there some sort of spyware removal i can get?

or what is the easiest way to format the HD and rebuild?

Lol...You don't have to worry about spyware on an Apple.
Your best bet is to back up all of your files on a jump drive or something, and format the hard drive. It's quite easy and straightforward. Once you have backed up everything you want, pop in the OS X installation disk and follow the instructions.
