After reading dismal reviews for Office08 for Mac, I was wondering if there is a trial version available, so that I can try using both (Office08 for Mac and iWorks 08) before making a purchase.

AFAIK MS have not released a trial version of MS Office 2008 for mac. Which is pretty stupid…but thats MS for you

Office 2008 for Mac gets panned mostly for lacking VB support for macros. If that's not an important thing for you, then I wouldn't worry about it. It's pretty decent otherwise.

Also take a look at NeoOffice, which is a Mac implementation of OpenOffice. NeoOffice is very compatible with MS Office documents and is completely free. So, give that a try before you invest any money in MS Office.

I bought Office 2008 Home & Student Edition and have no complaints after a few weeks. But shop around because you can get that version for as little as $100 if you find the right promotion at OfficeMax, Mac Mall, etc.

No trial as advised but Office 2008 is fast and rock steady after seven months.
