Unreal tournament 2004 mod insalling

so i have an intel mac and i got UT2004 and i downloaded some mods (tactical ops, crossfire and red orcehstra to be exact) and how the **** do i install them??? TOC crossfire comes with an installer but when i click it it says "installing files" and takes forever without showing any progress (i left it on overnight and it was doing the same thing when i woke up) UT2004 comes with a mod installer but that doesnt work eitehr, it says i need a "umod file" but i dont know what the **** that is either, and when i try to install a zip file it just quits unexpectadly, i basically got UT2004 for the sole purpose of playing Mods and now it wont work, please help.
