I saw that some people are putting 400GB and 500GB hard drives in 17inch MBP. Does anyone know if this is possible with the 15inch version as well? I know alot are doing a 320GB with luck, but just wondering if something bigger was available yet?

The largest drive available for the 15" Macbook Pro is the 500GB 5400RPM drive by Samsung. If you want a 7200RPM drive, then 320GB is the largest one currently available.

It's not THAT big of a difference, but it is slightly noticeable, as in OS X will boot faster, as will applications. As for whether that's worth $50, that's completely up to you. Some people want the bleeding edge in performance, others are content waiting an extra couple of seconds.

7200 rpm has slightly less battery life as well.
