We have these Mac Pro desktops at work, and we're connecting cinema displays to them. The problem is there's only one firewire port in the back, and the cable doesn't reach the other port in the front of the desktop.

Do all the cables, (DVI , FireWire, USB 2.0 and DC power), need to be plugged in to work? Or more specifically, does the firewire need to be plugged in. On one station we have all but the firewire plugged in and it seems to be working so far, but I understand that may affect some of the features.

thanks
Jimmy

actually I found an answer on the apple support forum. It seems you only need to use the firewire cable if you want to use the firewire ports in the backs of the screens.

I'll delete this soon unless people find it helpful or if anyone has any information to add, contrary or otherwise.
