here is the email I got. I'm leaving out the addy and the persons name.

Thank you for visiting the Apple Career Center. I hope you found it both interesting and informative. I would welcome the chance to schedule a time to speak with you about career opportunities at Apple Retail. Please respond via e-mail with the day and time, as well as telephone number that works best for your schedule. I will schedule a time that is convenient for both of us and send a confirmation response to you.

Thank you for your time and interest in Apple. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Regards,

Good luck! Tel us how it goes, cause once I turn 18 I'm planning on Applying. But the only thing that sucks is that you can't be apart of forums like this... But it's the price that you pay i guess...

You make it sound like it's a chore. If you love Mac you shouldn't have problems talking about them. After all isn't that why we all come here? >_<"

I would be interested in knowing how they keep people from being parts of forums after all your online screenname is completely seperate from your real life identidy in most cases , does anyone know how they enforce this?

Not really bragging. it's just an interview. I plan on posting again with interview info.... just to give others an idea what to expect. :)

There's a new store opening in my city very, very soon, so I've applied too.

I live in the middle of nowhere, so the nearest Apple store is about 2 hours away! There are, though stores that sell Apple stuff.

Oh I'm not jealous. I'd never want to work at an apple store. Anyways congrats with the interview.

What I mean is that Apple doesn't allow you to be apart of forums like this. You can get fired if you do, in fact when you get the job you sign a contract that says you wont. By all means I love talking about how Macs are better than Windows, especially to my friends..lol

Way... way too many specs to list.
That's not so unusual. Let me tell you, my employer would be upset if I went onto forums like this making comments that could be construed to represent the company.

Would you actually have to leave this or any other Apple-related forum altogether? Or would you simply have to promise that you won't discuss anything related to your employment with the company or give out information that you otherwise wouldn't be privy to?

our local apple store displays a big ability to speak the official apple line. during the interview seems they will want to find this in the prospective hire.

what makes me laugh is the appearance of the people working there...

mostly young kids... I'm older so they look like kids to me. Unshaved, old dirty jeans w/ holes in them, tattoos, long hair not even combed or styled. Looked like they just got out of bed....

on most jobs, if you showed up to an interview looking like they do, they would ask you to leave.

I guess the Apple culture is different huh?

If I'm correct Apple employees aren't allowed to go on other forums like this one, only the official Apple one. So I doubt you should be posting interview information and stuff. Just to be on the safe side.

just got back from the interview... since I do not work there I can talk about it right? ;)

group interview. 4 of us sat down in the mall with the manager at the same time. He talked and asked questions like:

1. talk about your current or previous jobs? what you like or dislike?
2. what is customer service in your view?
3. why do you want to work for apple?
4. you will be working alone most of the time with no one breathing down your neck. Is this ok with you?
5. what hours can you work or are available?
6. compensation. what are you looking for?

he did say they promote from within. all companies say that but they actually do it.

the specialists are sales people, and they get no commission. it's a no pressure sales type job.

if you start out as a specialist or concierge, and want to become a tech guy (genius), they offer paid training to help you.

they said customer service is #1...

when I asked whey their hiring so many for this store (they have 100 employees now), he said they underestimated the 3G sales... and the need for more staff because of that. at least in part.

If you got that far you most likely got the job. I worked there for over a year and the hours stunk. especially when they do overnighters. Plus they wanted me to wear pants to cover my tattoos. Our store was like a sauna. I didn't really need the job so I quit. But not before socking up on apple goodies. iMac, iPhone, MacBook Pro. I began to feel like a broken record answering the same questions over and over. Not to discourage you but it gets old real quick especially at 10 bucks an hour.

thats what bothers me, retail typically has terrible hours, esp now that christmas is getting near. Im sure it gets old. retail always does.

not sure i'll take even If offered, im working two jobs now.... depends mostly on how many hours they want me there... I do need free time after all

Its funny how all of you are saying how Apple doesnt want its employees posting on forums like this. They dont tell them crap. We know more about all the rumors and stuff then they do, its not like the managers have shift meetings with the employees and say Jobs says new Macbooks in October. You could go around this forum and find more insider info in a day than getting a group of employees from the apple store together and asking them stuff.
