I want to change a folder icon but i've been having some trouble. Whenever i do it, i get a white square behind it..

Here's a picture of the icons i downloaded from deviant art..

But when I "Get Info", the icon shows the png document type instead of the icon file..

I try to paste it to change my "School Stuff" folder anyways.. and it looks like this..

Anybody know the problem?

Thanks, alot.

try opening the .png file in preview, when it is open, hit command+c. Then go to "get info" for your school stuff folder and click once on its folder icon. Then hit command+v and it should paste the .png as your new icon without the white background.
