Ever since I added a new partition and installed Windows using BootCamp on my MacBook Pro, my battery drains incredibly fast if not plugged into a charger. If it is fully charged and I remove the charger it will stay charged for about 30 minutes max!

What is going on here?

03 black gt,

That doesn't sound right normally, but how old is your battery? What does your battery test on the battery side of the case tell you (How many lighted dots)? If your battery is reasonably new, I would call Apple Tech Support or take it by an Apple Store. You may get a new battery.

If it's an older battery, have you been calibrating it regularly? If you're not familiar with calibrating, here's an Apple piece on it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490

I hope you can get it fixed by Apple or recharged after you do a calibration on it.

I guess it's just too far gone by now. Good luck with your visit to Apple.

Open System Profiler and see what it says under power. Your charge remaining probably is just a fraction of the capacity. If that is the case take it to see a Genius.

Here's what it says:

Charge remaining (mAh): 1172
Full charge capacity (mAh): 1204

It is supposed to be fully charged at this point.

So does that mean it isn't working?

Which Mac do you have? If its a recent model then I'd be more concerned about the capacity. Both of those numbers seem low to me. Heres what my MBP and PB say

Charge Information:
Charge remaining (mAh): 4834
Fully charged: Yes
Charging: No
Full charge capacity (mAh): 5020
Health Information:
Cycle count: 96
Condition: Good
Battery Installed: Yes
Amperage (mA): -40
Voltage (mV): 12419

Charge Information:
Charge remaining (mAh): 4112
Charging: No
Full charge capacity (mAh): 4144
Health Information:
Cycle count: 99
Battery Installed: Yes
Amperage (mA): 0
Voltage (mV): 12365.

I have a MacBook Pro that I purchased last summer, so it is still relatively new.

Full charge capacity (mAh): 1204
Health Information:
Cycle count: 108
Condition: Check battery

I just noticed that it said Check Battery.... so I guess I'll take it by.

Probably the best bet. I had the battery in my MBP replaced last year, no questions asked. Well not really but pretty painless experience aside from having to do in the first place.

Once you partition Windows, your HD has to work a lot harder. That will simply drain your battery faster, the more work your computer does.
