Dear all,

I am having a problem with Terminal App in my MBP. After starting the terminal, it hangs with the following error mesg
"ps: Invalid (zero-length) process id" I have to use Ctrl+C to stop it, but afterwards it works just fine. I have googled without success. Has anyone met the same problem before?

Thanks!

I got the same problem.
I think it could be because of an incomplete fink update for me.

Have you try to update fink recently? (if you have fink installed on your mac.)

yes! i do have a default .profile (never touch it my self)
i just rename this to .profile.save and the error mesg disappeared!
but lots of environment variables are defined there. without .profile, it does not find fink command.

anyway thanks a lot!

Do a cat .profile.save and post it here, we'll help you get it sorted out from there. Or, you can start commenting out individual lines (put a # in front of it) and resave it as .profile and keep trying until you find it.
