darwin took over help?

my friend just got a used iMac desktop; next day of sitting, he powered up the ole PC & yikes!...(1979-80's )flash back...(((( computer boots to OS X login & PW then the flashback...((( to Darwin...! been tooo long for a brush-up on DOS commands, any way out with not having to get the OS disk??

Can't say I've heard of that. Sounds almost like some kind of panic is occurring. Did it not do that before he bought it.

Anyway, since is it used, I'd just do a clean install of OS X. He should have received some version of it.
