Hi everybody here at Mac-Forums

I'm making a school project about virtualization, and in that project i need to take a closer look on what people mostly use Virtualization for and which is the biggest benefits to normal persons in virtualization

I would like to ask all of you in here the following questions:

- Do you use Virtualization ?
- How often do you use it?
- Which functionality do you like the best?
- Which OS do you usually virtualize?
- Whats the purpose of your virtualization?

I'd like to thank you all the people who take their time to answer these questions for me. I will be needing input from multiple groups of people for making better statistics+conclusions.

Thank you very much for your time.

1. Yes
2. Only when I have to
3. The fact that OS X makes the whole process so easy to do. No matter if it's parallels, classic-on-intel or something else.
4. OS 9 (via classic-on-intel. It's a sheepshaver build)
And a little of XP also.
5. To use apps that have to direct OS X equivalent. That's the only reason I have to go past OS X. As it does 99% of what I need these days.

- Do you use Virtualization ?

On my Mac to run Windows. In my server room to run multiple virtual Windows servers on a single big server.

- How often do you use it?

Constantly.

- Which functionality do you like the best?

In my home use, I like having the ability to run Windows apps side-by-side with Mac apps and exchange data between them. In my work life, I like having a complete degree of hardware abstraction. If a virtual server crashes or becomes corrupted, I can restore it almost instantly.

- Which OS do you usually virtualize?

Windows XP
Windows Vista
Ubuntu
Windows Server 2003

- Whats the purpose of your virtualization?

Having OS multiple platforms available on-demand. In my work life - maximizing my server hardware by running multiple virtual machines instead of committing a very powerful server to one purpose.

I'd like to thank you all the people who take their time to answer these questions for me. I will be needing input from multiple groups of people for making better statistics+conclusions.

Thank you very much for your time.

Good luck.
