receipts folder. remove items or not?

several online articles say not to remove items in this folder.

but what about programs you've removed? should the receipts of those apps also be removed?

They are not big files in there, why remove them?

Mine is only 300 meg

Progs you have removed could be deleted tho, since the system is used by Software update and any uninstallers to remove programs

guess im thinking of the pre osx days, when you would delete an app, then have to go to the preferences and extensions folders to remove traces of it.

just cleaning house up a bit. Not sure this is needed for the receipts folder?
