Getting cracks on the back

Ok.

my Macbook is 4 months old

never ever been dropped or abused.

today as i was setting it up I noticed some cracks on the lower casing on the back

Not my photo but very similar to this

Its on both sides, and some along the sharp lower edge


Bought it from PC World as they price matched the lowest web price I found.


me thinks a trip to PC World tonight.

Even though you bought it at PC World, you can take it back to an Apple Store - it's warranted by Apple no matter where you buy it.

Cracks are going to be sorted, booked into the Trafford Centre Apple store on Friday, one year warrenty is valid there.


Repairs done on site


anything to keep PC Worlds "The Tech Guys" and Down Hill Logistics (DHL, their couriers) away from my MacBook.

Unfortunately this is a common problem, but I agree you should take it to the Apple store rather than PC world.

If it's out of warranty, they don't want to work for free.

Apple gets more Macs to repair than PC World. More practice, better results You'll know the answer to your question when you get it back and see how long it lasts.

Can't be better than a new keyboard and touch pad...

I don't think it's permanent my Macbook had to have the top and bottom case replaced at 8 Months old. due to cracking and chipped paint.

I have had mine for 3 months haven't seen any chipping; but if I did, I'd definitely take it to the Apple Store over PC World.

Well the oldest MacBook is not even 3 years old now, so that's impossible. This issue flooded the internet as early as 2006, months after they were released. I think that Mac genius is pulling your plonker.

The non mac genuis girl (orange T-Shirt) says they get quite a few like mine, her has had it to.
