Login screen upon closing lid...

Is there a way where every time I close the lid it takes me to the login screen so that when I decide to open it i won't come back to my desktop but rather to the login screen so I can input my password to gain access once again.

well, it won't take you to the log in screen, but it will require a password to do anything.
you have to go to system preferences -> security.
check the box "require password to wake this computer from sleep or screensaver"
