New Mouse: Forward and Back button

I just got a new wireless mouse for my MBP. I would like the side buttons that go forward and back like on windows to work but i cant seem to get it to work. The mouse drivers wont allow me to do this either. Is there a special way i can do this on my MBP? thanks
