I only use windows live messenger on the windows machine but now i have a mac (at last) i want to be able to use i-chat.
But to use i-chat i need to have an AIM E-mail address :(
So, i have 2 questions

1/. Can i get an AIM e-mail address from somewhere?
AND
2/. Can i add my friends with their @hotmail addresses if i sign in using an AIM email address in i-chat?

Thanks in advance, hopefully someone can help me, because i hate Adium and Mercury and aMsn.

1) Yes
2) No

You can use the following kind of accounts with iChat:
- AIM - aim.com
- MobileMe / .Mac - me.com
- Google Talk - mail.google.com
- Your own Jabber server

And iChat can only be used with other people using these kinds of accounts.

If you want to talk to people using MSN - you'll need Adium aMSN.

It should be noted however, that you can customise Adium's appearance A LOT.

You don't actually need an AIM email address though: Just a free aim account:

The latest MSN for MAC works quite well for me, besdies the fact there's no video.
